ABOVE THE NOISE: #ONAxANN

OVERVIEW | The Online News Association was excited to welcome writer and podcaster Ann Friedman in the spring of 2017. Though we are a journalism organization, we wanted to find an angle in our marketing that would appeal to the entire university and build our organization at the same time.

ROLE | Event Planning, Social Media, Graphic Design, Budget

MARKETING STRATEGY | We wanted to market Ann's event to the entire university. Ann's diverse background meant that we could speak to majors of all areas, including communication, women's and gender studies, business, and, of course, journalism. We planned a main keynote presentation that was open to the public and a masterclass that we limited to 30 students. Our main event was marketed as "Above the Noise: Becoming Your Own Brand" and covered everything from developing a personal brand to navigating the world of freelance. 

RESULTS | The event hosted nearly 270 students and professors from the university and surrounding Columbia community. People who attended engaged with our Twitter account using #ONAxAnn. We also had a livestream on our Facebook page for those who could not attend.
